As the holiday season approaches, the spirit of giving and community becomes more alive than ever. For many, this time of year is filled with warmth, laughter, and, of course, delicious food. However, not everyone has the means to enjoy a festive meal. In this bonus blog post we’re going to explore free Thanksgiving and Christmas meals in Washtenaw County
Thanksgiving Assistance
- Faith in Action– provides Thanksgiving baskets for those living in the Chelsea and Dexter school districts. Call (734) 475-3305 for more information.
- Saline Social Service Inc.– provides Thanksgiving food baskets for residents of the Saline school district. Call (734) 429-4570 for more information.
Thanksgiving Meals
- 11/21: Thankful To Go Drive-Thru Thanksgiving Meals (10:00am- 2:00 pm @ George Gervin GameAbove Center)
- Partnership between Eastern Michigan University, Chartwells, and the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation.
- First come, first served. Supplies are limited; one giveaway per car.
- 11/27: Thanksgiving basket distribution (9:00am-11:00 am @ Hope Clinic)
- 11/28: Community Thanksgiving Dinner (11:30am- 1:30pm @ Chelsea Hospital) Members of the community who will be alone on Thanksgiving are invited to gather for a free meal at Chelsea Hospital. Registration required. RSVP by November 22nd by calling the Chelsea Senior Center at (734) 475-9242.
