Finding Senior Discounts

There’s been an interesting Wall Street Journal article circling about how younger adults are joining AARP in order to take advantage of discounts. As we go into the holiday season, everyone is looking for ways to save money. Today on the blog we’re going to explore local senior discounts. Remember to always call ahead to make sure a place is participating in senior discounts.  

Restaurants 

  • Applebee’s: 10-15% for those 60+ 
  • Boston Market: 10% off for those 65+  
  • Culver’s: 10% off for those 60+
  • Einstein Bros Bagels: 10% for those 60+ 
  • IHOP: Order off the senior menu to save 10% 
  • Tim Hortons: 10% off for those 55+ 

Fast food  

  • Arby’s: 10% off for those 55+ 
  • A&W: 10% off for those 55+ 
  • Burger King: 10% off for those 60+ 
  • White Castle: 10% off for those 62+ 

Stores  

  • Banana Republic: 10% off for those 50+ 
  • Goodwill: 10% off on Tuesdays for those 60+ 
  • Joann Fabrics: 20% off on senior days for those 55+ (Call your local store for more information) 
  • Kohls: 15% off on Wednesdays for those 60+ 
  • Michaels: 10% off for those 55+ 
  • Walgreens: up to 20% off on Senior Days (Call your local store for more information, may need to sign up for their free rewards program) 

Travel 

  • Amtrack: 10% off for those 65+.  
  • Marriott Hotels: Available to those 62+. Call and mention the rate upon booking.  
  • United Airlines: Available to those 65+. Call and mention the rate upon booking.  

Misc. 

  • Cinemark Theaters: Call for information about Senior Day. 
  • Great Clips: $2 off for those 65+ 
  • Silver Sneakers: free online and in-person workout classes for those 65+ who are enrolled in select Medicare plans.  
  • T-Mobile: special discount for those 55+. Call or visit the website for more information. 
  • Washtenaw Community College: Free tuition for county residents age 65+ 
  • Verizon: Special rates for those 55+. Call or visit website for more information.  
  • Utilities: It can’t hurt to call your utilities company to see whether they offer a discount for older adults.
