Keep an eye out for verbal warning signs such as:

  • Clutter or piles of unread mail and newspapers.
  • Unkempt hair and/or clothes that are ripped and stained.
  • Not wearing glasses when you know they need glasses.
  • The sudden addition of someone new on the older adult’s bank account and/or large sums of money being withdrawn from the account.
  • The caregiver speaks on the behalf of the older adult, even though they are capable of speaking for themselves.
