Keep an eye out for verbal warning signs such as:
- Clutter or piles of unread mail and newspapers.
- Unkempt hair and/or clothes that are ripped and stained.
- Not wearing glasses when you know they need glasses.
- The sudden addition of someone new on the older adult’s bank account and/or large sums of money being withdrawn from the account.
- The caregiver speaks on the behalf of the older adult, even though they are capable of speaking for themselves.
