Staying cool in the summer

It’s that time of year again: the temperatures are slowly rising, outdoor events are popping up, and you might find yourself craving ice cream. Summer is here! Summer can mean a lot of fun things, but it can also mean a struggle to stay comfortable and a battle with utility bills. Below are some resources to stay cool as temperatures continue to climb.  

Air Conditioning Repair/Installation 

Cooling Centers 

  • Ann Arbor District Library (click here for locations)
    • Hours: 12:00-8:00pm
    • Masks required? No
  • Chelsea District Library (221 S Main Street in Chelsea) 
    • Hours: M-F 10:00am-6:00pm, Sa 10:00am-3:00pm 
    • Masks required? Yes (if unvaccinated or within 2 weeks of vaccinations. Includes children under 12) 
  • Dexter District Library (3255 Alpine Street) 
    • Hours: Hours subject to change. Call the library at (734) 426-4477  
    • Masks required? Yes (if unvaccinated or within 2 weeks of vaccinations. Includes children under 12) 
  • Manchester District Library (912 City Rd in Manchester) 
    • Hours:  M-F 11:00am-6:00pm, Saturdays 10am-2pm 
    • Masks required? Yes (if unvaccinated or within 2 weeks of vaccinations. Includes children under 12) 
  • Saline District Library (555 N Maple Rd in Saline) 
    • Hours: M-Th 9:00am-9:00pm, F-Sa 10:00am-5:00pm, Su 1:00-5:00pm
    • Masks required? Yes (if unvaccinated or within 2 weeks of vaccinations. Includes children under 12) 
  • Washtenaw County Human Services Building (555 Towner Street in Ypsilanti)
    • Hours: M-F 8:30am-5:00pm
  • Ypsilanti District Library (5577 Whittaker Road in Ypsilanti) 
    • Whittaker and Michigan Ave locations only  
    • Hours: M-Th 9:00am-9:00pm, F-Sa 10:00am-6:00pm, Su 1:00-5:00pm 
    • Masks required? Yes (if unvaccinated or within 2 weeks of vaccinations. Includes children under 12)
