Washtenaw County is home to various home modification programs. Unfortunately, these programs can have long wait lists. If you need a ramp but can’t turn to the county or nonprofit programs, where can you turn?
Ramp Rentals
- Brain Injury Association of Michigan offers ramp rentals.
- Senior Home Solutions offers short-term ramp rentals. They also offer ramps for purchase.
Loans & Grants for ramps
- A FHA 203(k) Loan gives homeowners funds to make updates and improvements to their home, including updates for accessibility.
- Accessibility Modifications Program (AMP) offers grants to homeowners to make their homes accessible. Note: Although the program is based in Indiana, some Michigan banks participate.
- USDA Single-Family Housing Repair Loans And Grants offers funds to homeowners who can’t get a loan elsewhere to make home modifications.
- VA Specially Adapted Housing (SAH) Grant allows veterans who have a service-related disability to have funds to modify their home.
